Most people I’ve talked to think January is going to be the hardest month. I have to agree and am glad it is first. I have to tell you that I’ve done a cleanse similar to this one for 20 days and was dying at the end, so 30 days is going to be really tough. One thing I have on my side is that I am mostly vegetarian and have been vegan in the past so I’ve got some good recipes that are meat and dairy free. I did, however, discover Torchy’s Tacos queso just in time for this...not a good thing. It is the best queso I’ve ever had! Someone is going to have to buy me some in February since I can’t spend any money. I don’t drink coffee or soda on a regular basis so the caffeine shouldn’t be too hard. I love red wine and beer but went without for nine months with both kids so I know I will survive. Sugar will be a challenge (especially chocolate) but I am going to include agave nectar and stevia. Social events will be the most difficult and take the most self control but it’s all about mindset.
I think the key to this month is going to be preparation. I'm going to plan meals weekly so I have everything I need and will be satisfied. I have a few new vegan cookbooks that will help.
And I’ve got two books that have a similar version of the cleanse I am doing so I can reference them for motivational words.
I’m going to break the cleanse on January 31st at my book club meeting. Our group of amazing ladies has been meeting for four years and I can’t think of better people to celebrate with!
